critique one
The goal of this assignment is to challenge you to utilize information from
your notes, readings and class discussions to evaluate a multimedia presentation
in terms of its:
- news value
- information editing
- information architecture
- aesthetic presentation
- innovation.
Explore the presentation below. After spending time with it, you will need to write a two-to-three page critique (do NOT exceed three pages of writing) that logically and professionally addresses the presentation’s successes and/or failures.
Helpful suggestions
Identify the goal
When writing your critique, be sure to identify what
you believe to be the focused goal of the presentation. If the goal is
not
apparent then -- of course – incorporate that design flaw in the
critique. In any case, assert something to provide a basis for your evaluation.
Structure the critique using evaluation areas
Be sure to consider the five evaluation areas of multimedia design
listed above: (1) news value to the audience (2) information editing
(3) information
architecture (4) aesthetic presentation (5) innovation.
Suggest improvements
It is important that you incorporate suggestions for improvement.
Given your knowledge and observations, determine the top three
things that the project team
for this presentation should do when redesigning. These suggestions should
involve using only the assets that exist in the presentation. Assume
there is no budget to gather new content.
Use screen grabs
Remember to tell what is best told in words, using words. Use visuals
for what is best told visually. Screen grabs (with strong captions) can
be most effective to illustrate particular points.
Keep your writing professional and logical
Remember to organize your critique logically, provide
an overall introduction that gives an overview of the presentation's
strengths
and weaknesses.
The presentation to evaluate is:
