storyboard: redesign a project

Assignment background

This assignment will require you to explore the presentation Dying Tongues and propose a redesign.

As you will see, the presentation is full of rich, valuable content that could benefit from some redesign. Here are the steps you will want to follow to complete this assignment:

1.) Spend a good amount of time (at least an hour) with the presentation. As you explore it, make a list of all the assets you encounter. (NOTE: For this storyboard you may ONLY use media that are on the site. You can create your own typography design or other graphic elements for the storyboards, but you cannot assume that there is staff available to take more photos, re-record audio, etc. You also cannot use outside images to complete this storyboard.)

2.) Looking at your list of assets, think through how they could be better organized for the user. Sketch (and re-sketch) flow charts until you reach a final one that clearly integrates the content for the user and provides a natural path for him or her to follow.

3.) Referencing the storyboarding steps and the storyboarding handout think through your design elements and begin to design your home page and three other pages, for a total of four storyboards. Make special effort to choose panels that show diverse content or concepts that demonstrate innovative thinking on your part.

Remember, the sky is the limit as far as programming needs. You are NOT the scripter for this site, but rather the designer whose job it is to present the information in the most innovative, engaging, usable and clear way.
